I still have yet to have any contractions, braxton hicks or real.....which makes me think baby is content where he/she is so it may be a while before she decides to come see us.
The good thing is that although I feel and look like a giant hippo, (I had to do something smaller than a whale since I could be preggo for 4 more weeks...then I'll be a whale.) I am not very uncomfortable.
How baby's growing:
Baby is still packing on the pounds (so is mom apparently : ) — at the rate of about an ounce a day. She now weighs almost 6 pounds and is more than 18 1/2 inches long. She's shedding most of the downy covering of hair that covered her body as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that covered and protected her skin during her nine-month amniotic bath. Your baby swallows both of these substances, along with other secretions, resulting in a blackish mixture, called meconium, will form the contents of her first bowel movement.
At the end of this week, baby will be considered full-term. (Full-term is 37 to 42 weeks; babies born before 37 weeks are pre-term and those born after 42 are post-term.)
Aw, yes - I remember the head butts to the bladder. Not so much fun. Do enjoy the pregnancy as much as you can (and it sounds like you are) because you will miss it. Yes, you will enjoy the wonderful blessing God has granted you, but there's something magical about being pregnant. I know you feel like a hippo, but it's a beautiful thing.
ReplyDeleteHappy to hear all is progressing normally. Glad you are saving the whale status for later. I will share with you, as I did with Danie. Until you are uncomfortable and feel like the baby is hanging on your kneecaps, you probably aren't ready.
